In our latest love.people feature, Holly Komorowski visits homeowners Phoebe and Tim, two talented architects whose work extends far beyond their front door. Tim is the landscape architect behind Yellow Architecture, and Phoebe is the creative force behind Plot Design Group. Together, they have transformed a humble 1970s home into a sanctuary that reflects their shared design philosophy: thoughtful, grounded and deeply connected to place.

Where design meets living

Set at the end of a quiet battle-axe block, the home immediately offers privacy and a sense of retreat. What unfolds beyond the entry, however, is a beautifully orchestrated sequence of spaces, each shaped by Phoebe and Tim’s professional expertise and lived experience.

Exploring colour, expression and the landscapes behind the view

We recently visited the Belconnen Arts Centre to meet with the wonderfully talented Cassandra Dove, recipient of the home.byholly Capital Arts Patrons Organisation Grant. Her exhibition, Behind the View, adorned the gallery walls over November, a captivating celebration of colour, movement and the quiet moments held within the natural world.

Cassandra is an abstract landscape painter, drawing inspiration from time spent immersed in nature and on her travels. Her works are instantly recognisable: expressive compositions layered with energetic brush strokes, bold palettes, and a tactile richness that invites you to step closer. Each piece feels like a memory alive, vibrant and deeply felt.

“I paint very expressive paintings inspired by time I spend in the natural landscape and travelling. My work is characterised by very vibrant colours, expressive brush marks and texture.”

A long-time business owner and beloved member of the Ainslie community, Maddie has been part of the local fabric for years through her hair studio, Q Hair. Known for her warmth, creativity, and connection with clients, Maddie has always made her space about more than just hair, it’s been about people, stories, and community.

After a walk in the desert with her kids, Maddie was inspired to live without fear and to bring more of that creative energy home. From that moment came Q Gallery, her next bold step and the newest addition to the Ainslie Shops.

What began as a spark of inspiration has grown into a true creative heart for the suburb. A space where community, culture, and creativity come together.

Q Gallery isn’t just about art; it’s about connection. It’s a local hub where artists are celebrated, children are encouraged to create, and visitors rediscover the joy of originality.
