love.people | Phoebe & Tim (40 Chubb Street, Latham)

Some homes feel like they’ve been gently shaped over time, not just renovated, but curated with care, creativity and intention. 40 Chubb Street, Latham is one of those rare homes where architecture, landscape and daily living come together seamlessly.

In our latest love.people feature, Holly Komorowski visits homeowners Phoebe and Tim, two talented architects whose work extends far beyond their front door. Tim is the landscape architect behind Yellow Architecture, and Phoebe is the creative force behind Plot Design Group. Together, they have transformed a humble 1970s home into a sanctuary that reflects their shared design philosophy: thoughtful, grounded and deeply connected to place.

Where design meets living

Set at the end of a quiet battle-axe block, the home immediately offers privacy and a sense of retreat. What unfolds beyond the entry, however, is a beautifully orchestrated sequence of spaces, each shaped by Phoebe and Tim’s professional expertise and lived experience.

Inside, the layout is simple but purposeful, with natural light and garden views guiding the flow through the home.

Outside, the landscape, designed by Plot Design Group, becomes an extension of the living spaces: layered plantings, intimate garden rooms, alfresco dining zones and a sense of calm that holds you as you move through it.

The architectural touches, shaped by Yellow Architecture, are equally thoughtful:

  • A floating island bench that anchors the kitchen without weighing it down.
  • Soft, timeless materiality that elevates the home’s original character.
  • Windows and openings that frame the garden like a series of living artworks.
  • Spaces crafted for connection, yet gentle enough for quiet retreat.

Together, their work blurs boundaries between architecture, landscape and lifestyle — making the home feel intentional, restorative and beautifully lived-in.

A story worth sharing

In the love.people video, Holly captures the heart of this transformation. Phoebe and Tim speak to their vision, the challenges of working with an existing structure, and the joy of creating a home that truly reflects who they are — as designers, as partners, and as people who love to live both indoors and out.

It’s a reminder that a home is more than the sum of its parts. It’s a place shaped by the hands and hearts of those who care for it.
